The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (Minister Jeong Hyeong-geun) and the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (President Kim Chun-jin) participated in the 2023 Shanghai International Food Fair (SIAL Shanghai) in Shanghai, China, from the 18th to the 20th, and achieved $74 million in export consultation.

The Shanghai International Food Fair (SIAL Shanghai) is Asia's largest food-specialized B2B fair, and this year, Korea, the United States, Japan, Thailand, Turkiye, and Malaysia participated as national halls, and more than 6,500 food and beverage workers from 47 countries around the world gathered to prove China's reopening.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the corporation worked with 58 leading K-food exporters and Jeollabuk-do local governments to form a 79 booth-sized "integrated Korean Pavilion" and promoted a variety of items, including ginseng, low-salt and plant-based foods, citron tea, coffee, and traditional tea.

In particular, prior to the fair, a "pre-on-line consultation meeting" was held between exporters and buyers to lead to substantial export expansion, and an on-site MOU was signed at the fair venue based on sufficient consultation.
