The Seoul Business Agency (SBA, CEO Kim Hyun-woo) announced the successful completion of an export consultation event with merchandising directors (MDs) from Japan’s largest variety store chain, Don Quijote, held on December 23 and 24. The event, aimed at facilitating the entry of Seoul-based small and medium enterprises (SMEs) into the Japanese market, took place at the SBA Global Marketing Center in Gangseo-gu, Seoul.

A total of 77 Seoul SMEs participated in tailored business meetings with Don Quijote MDs, each lasting about 40 minutes. The discussions covered a wide range of products, including cosmetics and fashion items riding the wave of K-Culture, as well as food products like tteokbokki and traditional Korean liquors. Innovative items such as skin diagnostic devices, UV-blocking stockings, near-infrared knee massagers, and collagen jelly were also presented.

This initiative is part of SBA’s ongoing efforts to support SMEs in reaching global markets and strengthening Seoul’s global business ecosystem. Highlighting its achievements, SBA was recognized at the Startup Ecosystem Stars 2024 awards on December 4, hosted by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and Mind the Bridge, with sponsorship from Microsoft. This accolade celebrates SBA’s contributions to advancing global business support ecosystems.

Building on this recognition, SBA plans to further enhance the global competitiveness of Seoul-based companies and create more opportunities for international collaboration.
