The ‘Nonsan Strawberries’, which gained massive popularity at the 2025 Nonsan Agricultural and Food Overseas Expo held in Jakarta, Indonesia, from February 13 to 16, continue to receive an overwhelming response from local consumers.
According to Nonsan City (Mayor Baek Sung-hyun), the special sales section for Nonsan strawberries at the TransMart store in Kota Kasablanka Central Park Mall, Jakarta, remains crowded with locals eager to purchase the product.
The special sales event was initiated after TransMart, a leading Indonesian retail chain, expressed strong interest in Nonsan’s agricultural products during the Nonsan Agricultural Expo. This led to a direct meeting between Mayor Baek Sung-hyun and TransMart executives.
TransMart’s executives were impressed by the high demand for Nonsan strawberries and other agricultural products at the expo and proposed an import and sales collaboration. In response, Mayor Baek requested a dedicated space for Nonsan agricultural products to differentiate them in the market, which TransMart readily accepted.
Following further negotiations with local buyers and supply chain considerations, both parties agreed to sell 7 tons of ‘Vitaberry’ strawberries over four distribution phases.
During the first sales event on March 1-2, 642kg of Vitaberry strawberries worth $10,000 were sold. An additional 4 tons are expected to be shipped to Indonesia for the remaining three sales phases, further solidifying Nonsan strawberries' success in the Indonesian market.
