Governor Kim Tae-heum departs for Dubai to attend the COP28 and Under 2 Union General Assembly

Vietnam is an axis of inter-Korean exchange and discusses cooperation with the Laos administrative chief

South Chungcheong Province, a special provincial government for carbon neutral economy, will share with the world its leading policies to realize carbon neutrality, such as the conversion of decarbonized energy, and lead the expansion of international cooperation.

It will also expand exchanges and cooperation with central and local governments in Southeast Asia, seek to expand economic territory, and examine solutions to pending rural issues in the province.

Governor Kim Tae-heum will depart on the 30th to attend the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) and the 2023 Under2 Union General Assembly, meet with the prime minister of Laos, and sign friendly cooperation agreements with local governments in Vietnam.

Looking at this business trip to the Middle East and Southeast Asia by schedule, Governor Kim will attend the opening ceremony of the COP28 General Assembly on the 1st (local time) with a special invitation from 12 local governments around the world.

COP is an international conference to discuss the direction of responding to the global climate crisis. This year, which marks its 28th anniversary, it will open in Dubai on the 30th and will be held for 13 days until the 12th of next month.

Representatives of the 12 local governments include Cash Call, the U.S. governor of New York, Inri, China's party secretary in Beijing, Paris Mayor An Hidalgo, Brazil's governor of Rio de Janeiro, Claudio Castro, Poland's mayor Raphi Kazimier Tshakovsky, and India's Ahmadabad Mayor Shrimati Pratibaven Rakeshkumarjain, and Kim is the only governor in Korea.

The opening ceremony at the Blue Zone of the Expo City in Dubai will be attended by delegations from 197 parties to the Climate Change Convention, including U.S. Special Envoy for Climate Change John Kerry, Chinese Special Envoy for Climate Change Xie Zhenhua, and United Nations Climate Change Secretary Simon Stiel, who served as U.S. Secretary of State along with Governor Kim.

Governor Kim will then attend the opening ceremony of the local government climate action summit at the same place.

After completing his schedule in Dubai from the 1st to the 3rd, Governor Kim will move to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on the 4th and move to Park Jang-sung via Hanoi on the 5th to sign a friendly cooperation agreement with Rain Zuong growth.
