The Korea Forest Service (Director Nam Sung-hyun) and aT(Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation)(President Kim Chun-jin) will hold the 2023 Korean Gastronomy Week at the InterContinental Hotel, a top-end hotel in Hanoi, Vietnam, from Nov. 30 to Dec. 9 to discover new demand for Korean forest products and expand exports to Vietnam.
The event was designed to promote the excellence and efficacy of Korean premium forest products and expand the possibility of high-end food ingredients and local consumption, and invited Korean Michelin star chefs to Hanoi to showcase fusion dishes using major forest products exported to Vietnam, including dried persimmons, jujube and shiitake mushrooms, captivating the taste of local visitors.
First of all, the opening event on the 30th was attended by more than 70 people, including leading Vietnamese buyers, local media, and SNS influencers, and held a new menu launch event using various forest food ingredients. The new menu was developed by Chef Lee Joon, a two-star Michelin chef, and natural health ingredients rich in saponins, such as bellflower and deodeok, were especially well received by visitors.
In addition to Michelin star chefs, masters from various fields such as kimchi, traditional liquor, and desserts will also participate in the Korean gourmet week event, which runs until the 10th, to host a variety of menus and programs made of various forest products such as wild vegetables, dried persimmons, jujube and omija. In particular, it plans to publicize the excellence of Korean forest products to local consumers in Vietnam through various hands-on events such as mountain kimchi and cooking classes for making nut Korean traditional sweets.
