The 9th Harbin Winter Asian Games, which concluded on the 14th, saw the South Korean national team secure a strong 2nd place overall, solidifying its position as a winter sports powerhouse. Behind this remarkable achievement is the effort of the 2018 PyeongChang Foundation (Chairman Yoo Seung-min, the newly elected president of the Korea Sports Council and former IOC member), which has been dedicated to discovering and supporting athletes through Olympic legacy projects.

The foundation operates the "Play Winter" campaign, which utilizes the legacy of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics and Paralympic Games to promote winter sports. The campaign actively supports the growth of promising athletes who dream of representing their country while also offering the general public, who usually have limited access to winter sports, the opportunity to experience Olympic venues. This initiative has played a leading role in expanding the base and development of winter sports in South Korea.

At this year’s Harbin Winter Asian Games, seven athletes from the foundation's “Sports Academy,” a program aimed at nurturing future talent, were selected to represent the national team and performed admirably.
