MCST (Minister Yoo In-chon) and MAFRA (Minister Song Mi-ryeong) will hold the "K Community Challenge Contest" from Aug. 22 to Sept. 22 in collaboration with KOFICE (Director Kim Kyung-nam) and aT (President Hong Moon-pyo). The winning team will be selected by receiving performance and demonstration videos in four categories: Korean pop, sogo dance, taegwonmu, and Korean food for Hallyu clubs around the world. The winning team in each category will be given an opportunity to perform on the stage of the "K Community Festival" to be held in Korea in November this year.
The "K Community Challenge," which began in 2019, is a competition in which foreigners' Hallyu clubs watch and learn Korean culture lessons provided by each field, perform in person, film and share them around the world. Last year, 341 people from 46 countries and around the world participated in the contest.
In particular, this year, we collaborated with MAFRA to introduce simple Korean cuisine recipes and paired foods to accompany them, providing an opportunity for foreign consumers to easily access Korean food and adding a new Korean food sector so that it can lead to the export of Korean agri-food.
In addition, artists and K-pop groups in each field of the contest will directly appear in videos of Korean culture classes to attract foreigners' attention. It was joined by "Oband Gwangchil" and "EPEX" in the Korean pop category, "Beaseul Dance Company" and "BEBE" in the sogo dance category, "Taekwon Kri" and "SF9" in the taegwonmu category, and "Yuk Jung-min" and "EPEX" in the Korean food category. The video of the class was filmed against the backdrop of various places in Korea that encompassed traditional and modern times, including Seonjeongneung, Namsan Park, Gimpo Hanok Village, and Seonyudo Park, so that foreigners can naturally feel the charm of Korean culture.
