The 2024 Hallyu Culture Festival, "Mokkoji Korea," which brings Korean lifestyle culture to Hallyu fans worldwide, successfully wrapped up on October 6th in Budapest, Hungary. The event attracted over 12,000 attendees, with 7,000 fans joining the highly anticipated K-pop concert, which was held amidst much excitement.
Hosted by Korea's Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (Minister Yoo In-chon) and organized by the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (Director Park Chang-shik), “Mokkoji Korea” introduced a variety of Korean lifestyle elements to Hungarian fans. The event featured immersive programs showcasing K-food, K-drama, K-fashion, and more.
Leading local media outlets, including "Index," "Hír TV," "Pestidivat.hu," "BlikK-POP," and "Bdpst24," covered the event with significant interest. Notably, local reports praised the event, describing it as “a spectacular stage brought by top K-pop stars who visited Budapest” and remarked on "the remarkable power of K-culture, which was vividly felt on site, with Mokkoji Korea at its heart.”
A total of 40 institutions and companies participated in the event to share diverse aspects of Korean lifestyle, including key public institutions like the Korean Cultural Center in Hungary, the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), the Korea Tourism Organization, the Sejong Institute Foundation, the Korea Cultural Information Service, the Korea Heritage Promotion Agency, and the National Museum of Korea, as well as private companies such as LG Electronics, Kia Hungary, and Korean Air.
Notably, through close collaboration with KOTRA, the event supported exports for 20 Korean food and cosmetics companies, achieving approximately USD 290,000 in export sales. These efforts were supported by digital marketing activities via buyKOREA and SNS channels, with over half of the participating companies being export beginners with annual global export volumes under USD 100,000 as of 2023, adding further significance to the results.\
