Korean food is popular in New York, which is leading the global gastronomic trend. Among 71 restaurants listed in the Michelin Guide New York 2023, 11 were Korean restaurants. New York's leading modern Korean restaurant ATOMIX ranked No. 1 in the U.S. at the 2023 World's 50 Best Restaurants Awards, the most prestigious restaurant in the gastronomic industry.

The popularity of Korean food is not unique to the United States. As interest in Korean food and food culture increases around the world, the presence of Korean restaurants overseas is also growing. In the past, Korean restaurants were mainly operated in Koreatown for Korean residents and Korean travelers, but recently, it is located in the city center, attracting the taste of locals by introducing high-end Korean food centered on professional chefs.

The government is also implementing various policies to increase the presence of Korean food in overseas countries. One of them is the "Overseas Excellent Korean Restaurant Designation System," which is being implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and KFPI. The project was launched in 2022 to improve the quality of Korean food and protect consumers based on the Korean Food Promotion Act, and a total of 13 excellent Korean restaurants were selected in New York, France, Paris and Tokyo, Japan, including "Atomix" last year.

△ Jungsik △ Atomix △ Yoon Haeundae Galbi △ COTE Korean Steakhouse △ SOOGIL △ Jua and Paris △ Soon Grill Marais △ Jongno Samgyetang △ Yido △ Sambuja △ Delicious (Ma-shi-ta) and △ Yunke △ in Tokyo, Japan.

Among them, "Atomix," a fine dining restaurant located in New York, USA, is characterized by making food using domestic rice, traditional food master's soy sauce, and red pepper powder. It is a Korean restaurant that provides unique tableware, plating, and the best hospitality and service for customers, and received two Michelin stars for three consecutive years from 2020 to 2022.
