Organized by the 2018 Pyeongchang Memorial Foundation (Chairman Kim Yoo Seung Min) and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Gangwon State, the "Dream Program" will be held in Pyeongchang and Gangneung from January 5 with 134 people from 30 countries participating. The "Dream Program," which was first launched in Gangwon State in 2004 with a pledge to host the Olympics, will be filled with stories and various programs that contain meaningful growth on behalf of the global sports heritage business.
A total of 2,500 participants from 97 countries participated in the dream program over the past 20 years, and it has produced more than 150 international athletes and 17 Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics. This year, a total of 14 athletes will participate in alpine skiing, cross-country skiing and freestyle skiing at the 2024 Winter Youth Olympics in Gangwon Province (hereinafter referred to as Gangwon 2024).
The 20th anniversary dream program will feature a strengthened winter sports academy, including pre-training programs for 2024 athletes and leadership training and ground training, to drive the successful hosting of the upcoming Gangwon 2024. In particular, Olympic medalists (Yoo Seung Min, Kim Yu-na, Jin Jong-oh, etc.) will attend the opening ceremony of the event to provide a meaningful place to cheer for the junior preliminary Olympians. At the closing ceremony, it will greatly contribute to the creation of a boom to promote the competition by running a decision-making ceremony for Gangwon 2024 athletes from the dream program and attending as a "five-wheeler" at the opening ceremony of Gangwon 2024.
