The "New Year's Concert Festival Orchestra" is composed of 12 major symphony orchestras nationwide
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Yoo In-chon, hereinafter referred to as the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) will hold the 2024 New Year's Concert at the Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall at 7 p.m. on January 9th.
This year's New Year's concert will be filled with stages that confirm the power and status of our culture and arts world flying high into the world. In particular, the "New Year's Concert Festival Orchestra" was first formed with 12 major symphony orchestras nationwide, including the KBS Symphony Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra, as well as city and provincial symphony orchestras in Gwacheon, Gwangju, Gimcheon, Bucheon, Suwon, Ulsan, Wonju, Incheon, Jeonju, and Jeju, and musicians who have been active until today of the K-Classic will join.
The "New Year's Concert Festival Orchestra," led by Lee Seung-won, senior vice-chair of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, marks the beginning of the New Year's concert with the 4th movement of Beethoven's Symphony No. 5. Then, Shin Chang-yong, a piano player who won the Gina Baccauer Competition for the first time in Korea in 2018 and is drawing attention as a young artist of K-classics, will present Chopin's "Fancy vs. Polonaise" piece No. 22 (Op.22).
