The 2023 Daejeon International Webtoon Job Fair & University Cartoon Webtoon Competition was held from October 13 to 15 at the second exhibition hall of the Daejeon Convention Center, with more than 10,000 visitors.
The event was co-hosted by the Korean Cartoon Webtoon Association, the Korea Webtoon Industry Association, the Daejeon Cartoon Association, and the Daejeon Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency, which signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in February this year on the 8th popular election pledge of Daejeon Metropolitan City. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Korean Cartoon Association, the Webtoon Writers Association, the Korean Cartoon Association, and the Korean Cartoon Story Writers Association sponsored the event.
In addition, China's Beijing Film School, Chen Jin-do Province Cartoon and Animation Culture Development Co., Ltd., Japan's Shinchitose Airport International Animation Film Festival Executive Committee, and the Japanese Animation Society participated as cooperative groups.
Thirty-three webtoon companies (platforms, agencies, studios) and 30 universities majoring in cartoon webtoons and animation participated in the event, and "Webtoon Job Fair" and "Pitching Presentation," a one-on-one portfolio matching event between companies and students, were held, and more than 500 serial contracts and job-related interviews were conducted.
