The 27th World Korean Speech Contest will be held at the National University of Singapore (NUS) Auditorium on August 4. The World Korean Speech Contest is called "Shout it out loud!" Under the slogan of "Korean Speech," 47 individual and eight team speakers from 19 countries, including China, Australia and Indonesia, as well as Korea, Singapore, will participate in the K-Speech competition.

The competition will be co-hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Singapore (Admiral Choi Hoon, Embassy), the Korea Speech Speech Association (Chairman Kim Kyung-seok, Association) and the National University of Singapore (President Tan Eng Chye, NUS). Participants will express their Korean eloquence skills under the theme of Korean language communication and world peace, and the best speaker will be awarded the President of the Republic of Korea Award.

This competition has been held in countries around the world, including China, Australia, and Japan, to promote the value and excellence of Korean language and spread our Hangul to the global community, but it was held in Korea for two years in 2021 (Yongsan) and 2022 (Changwon) due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is the first competition to be held overseas since the end of COVID-19, and Singapore, which has well-equipped flights with various countries, has been selected as the venue for more countries to participate in Korean and Korean language.

△ Representative speakers in Korea mainly focus on the value and culture of Korean language, eradication of COVID-19, eradication of school violence, prevention of safety accidents, and peaceful unification of the Korean Peninsula. △ Representative speakers abroad present stories of friendship and cultural experiences.

In particular, the granddaughter of Colonel Gabriesus Mikael of Ethiopia's Gangneu Unit, who participated as a United Nations coalition during the Korean War, will participate to compete with the Korean language skills learned from watching Korean TV. This is of great significance to the people of the Republic of Korea, which marks the 70th anniversary of the armistice.

The World Korean Speech Contest is attempting various changes to communicate with the public with more diverse and interesting communication techniques, reflecting the recent transformation of speech culture.

First, from 2018 (23rd), group (group) eloquence was introduced. Previously, there was only a presentation method in which one speaker climbed to the podium and presented his argument convincingly, but the introduction of group (group) eloquence allowed team members to exchange conversations and convey opinions on a specific topic more vividly.

At the same time, the use of props has been prohibited, but since the 2018 (23rd), a screening system has been introduced since 2022 (26th) that allows experts to comment on YouTube live broadcasts and give additional points to help the audience understand eloquence. At that time, there were more than 8,000 visitors, and more viewers are expected to participate in the competition, which expanded the participation of people around the world.

The competition is organized by the Association's Singapore headquarters and the Korean Language Proficiency Evaluation Association and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Unification and the Ministry of Public Administration and Security.

In addition, Lee Sook-jin, vice chairman of the Asia-Pacific Regional Council of the Advisory Council on Democratic and Peaceful Unification, has been the venue for 11 years, sponsored by Australia's Jammai Holdings Group, and Lee Yong-ho, a member of the National Assembly's Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee.
