Daehangno Opera "Empress Myeongseong by Verdi Latraviata"
The Daehangno opera "Empress Myeongseong by Verdi La Traviata," hosted by the Korea Arts Association, will be staged at the Daehangno Hanye Theater from August 24 to 27.
Daehangno Opera's first work, Empress Myeongseong by Verdi La Traviata, is an opera that consists of the Korean history story of opera giant composer Giuseppe Verdi and is newly created by adding theatrical elements. It was based on the fact that La Traviata's beloved lovers, Violeta and Alfredo, and Germon, who opposed their love, were similar to the confrontation between Minbi, Gojong, and Heungseon Daewongun after the 1882 Imo War.
The production team increased the completeness of the work by directing and music director Park Jung-deok, the Korean premiere conductor of the musical "The Phantom of the Opera," and Lee Yu-ra, the prima donna soprano, respectively. Lee Yoo-ra, the music director, will also conduct piano, cello, and violin trio and show her aspect as a conductor.
