OKA Director Lee Sang-deok attended the ‘World Korean Association Continental Korean Association Capacity Building Seminar’ held in Hanoi, Vietnam from May 1 to 2, and shared Korea’s overseas compatriot policies and cases from other countries through congratulatory remarks and policy lectures.
This event was the first overseas Korean association capacity building seminar held by the World Korean Association under the sponsorship of the Overseas Koreans Office, and was attended by heads of major Korean organizations in Vietnam, as well as heads of Korean associations in Japan, Asia, the Americas, Europe, Canada, Oceania, and Central and South America.
In the opening ceremony on the first day, Director Lee emphasized, “Korean communities around the world are rapidly changing generations to the 3rd and 4th generations, and it is more important than ever for each regional Korean association to be self-reliant and strengthen its capacity in line with the changing times.”
The Korean Community Center is promoting various policies and projects for the 7 million overseas Koreans and the approximately 1 million Koreans settling in Korea, and said, “We expect the World Federation of Korean Associations to organically connect with Korean associations around the world and play a role as a focal point for the Korean community that unites the capabilities of the Korean community as one.”
In addition, the head of the center encouraged overseas Koreans to participate in the election.
