MCST (Minister Yoo In-chon) will hold the "2024 Korea-Philippines Copyright Intergovernmental Conference and Forum" in Manila, Philippines, on October 24 with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines Ministry of Trade and Industry (Director Rowel S. Barba).
Since 2011, MCST has been exchanging copyright with the Philippine Intellectual Property Office for more than 10 years, opening a copyright Philippine office in 2012 and signing a "Memorandum of Understanding on Exchange and Cooperation in the Copyright Field" in 2014.
This year, it will hold intergovernmental meetings and forums in connection with the 2nd Philippine International Copyright Summit (10.21~25.) hosted by the Philippine Branch Office. The Philippine International Copyright Summit is the largest international copyright event held in the Philippines and is expected to promote Korea's copyright advancement policy and form a wide international cooperation network, as it is the largest international copyright event attended by influential figures and industry officials from home and abroad.
The "Korea-Phil Copyright Intergovernmental Conference," which marks its 12th anniversary this year, will deal with four major agendas: the trend of the ▴ copyright law, the central management system of ▴ copyrights, the response to copyright infringement such as illegal distribution of ▴, and ▴ cooperation tasks. In particular, the Philippine Intellectual Property Office plans to focus on ways to quickly block access to sites that illegally distribute K-content by utilizing the authority to block access to illegal distribution sites of works held by the Philippine Intellectual Property Office.
