Chungnam Province officially launched its U.S. office with an opening ceremony on January 14 at the Conrad Hotel in Los Angeles. This office will act as a forward base to expand exports, attract foreign investment, and promote local diplomacy, with a particular focus on economic activities targeting the U.S. market.

The opening ceremony was attended by Chungnam Governor Kim Tae-heum, alongside notable figures such as Evan Reed, California's International Affairs Advisor; Fred Jung, Mayor of Fullerton; and Joyce Ahn, Mayor of Buena Park. More than 200 guests participated, including members of the Chungnam Provincial Council and county heads from Hongseong and Yesan, who were visiting the U.S. to strengthen ties with overseas Koreans.

The U.S. office will be led by Director Choi Won, a provincial government official, with the support of one local staff member. Its primary responsibilities include matching local exporters with international buyers, supporting export agreements, providing market trend insights, and fostering trade promotion. Additionally, the office will focus on attracting international tourists, enhancing international exchange and cooperation, and pursuing public diplomacy efforts.

Chungnam Province aims to strengthen economic ties with the U.S. through this office, setting a target of $12 billion in exports and making the U.S. the largest investor in the province. This initiative is also expected to enhance the globalization of Chungnam through diverse exchanges and collaborations.
