The 2027 Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo has taken a significant step toward its successful launch.
Nonsan City (Mayor Baek Sung-hyun) announced on March 12 that the event has been confirmed as a candidate for international event review by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MOEF). This milestone marks a major move toward positioning Nonsan as a global hub for the strawberry industry.
The MOEF’s international event review assesses an event’s feasibility, economic impact, and global significance before granting approval. Following an evaluation by the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP), the event is expected to receive final approval in July 2024, at which point government support will be secured for full-scale preparations.
Jointly organized by Nonsan City and Chungcheongnam-do Province, the 2027 Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo aims to highlight Nonsan’s renowned strawberries, create new added value in K-Strawberry-related industries, and serve as a platform for global trade expansion and international cooperation.
To ensure the event’s success, Nonsan City has been actively promoting its agricultural products and building industry networks through key events such as the Nonsan Agricultural Food Expo, K-Food Buyer Consultation Meetings, and the Asia Korean Business Conference.
As a comprehensive global event, the 2027 Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo will showcase the entire strawberry industry ecosystem from primary production to advanced processing, tourism, and agritech innovations. It will integrate smart agriculture, agtech, and food technology to present the future vision of the global strawberry industry.
