The Songpa Macheon Youth Center has begun accepting registrations for the ‘2025 I MAP U’ Summer English Camp, which will take place in the United Kingdom and Ireland, according to an announcement on March 14. The overseas English camp is scheduled to run during the summer vacation, providing Korean elementary and middle school students with opportunities to study and interact with local European students.
A key highlight of the program is its participation in Ireland’s Transition Year (TY) system, which served as a model for Korea’s Free Semester System. This initiative allows students to experience Ireland’s unique education system, fostering motivation for English learning and career exploration. Additionally, the camp itinerary includes tours of major cultural and historical landmarks in both the UK and Ireland, offering participants a firsthand experience of European history and heritage.
Originally launched in 2017, this non-profit program is now in its sixth year. According to the Macheon Youth Center, Ireland has achieved economic growth through its partnership with major global companies such as Google, Apple, Microsoft, Meta, and Pfizer. The program, in collaboration with one of Ireland’s top 5% universities, will allow Korean students to study alongside local Irish students, network with peers, and gain valuable career insights, making it a unique and impactful learning opportunity.
