Overseas Koreans' Office Discusses Cooperation Plan with Kazakhstan's Koryo Korean Society

Lee Ki-sung, director of the Overseas Koreans Policy Bureau, met with Shin Andrei Almaty, chairman of the Korea National Association, at the Overseas Koreans Office (Director Lee Sang-deok) in Songdo, Incheon, on the afternoon of April 7 to listen to the current status of Kazakhstan's Korean community and discuss future cooperation measures.

In the meeting, Chairman Shin explained the project to build K-PARK in Almaty and the project to visit the home country of Koreans in Kazakhstan, saying that the activities of the Korean community in Kazakhstan are active.

Director Lee explained the Korean Residents Support Project being promoted by the Korean Residents Overseas Office and suggested that the Korean Residents Overseas Office and the Almaty Korean National Association continue to communicate in the future and cooperate for the stable settlement of Korean Residents.

Chairman Shin Andrei is the head of the Shilla Group and a member of the Almaty City Council, and took office as the chairman of the Almaty Koryo National Association in September 2022.

Founded in 1989, the organization is actively engaged in activities for the preservation and succession of Korean culture, Korean language education, expansion of exchanges and cooperation with Korea, and harmony with ethnic minorities in Kazakhstan.
