The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in São Paulo (Consul General: Chae Jin-won), in collaboration with the Overseas Koreans Agency (OKA), held the ‘Next-Generation Korean Leaders Seminar’ on the evening of April 10 at the “Nam Coworking” space in Case Square Shopping Mall, located in Bom Retiro, the city’s Koreatown.
This event was designed to provide practical insights and support for Korean-Brazilian youth as they grow into leaders across various fields. A large number of students and parents attended, showing high interest in the seminar.
In his opening remarks, Consul General Chae Jin-won expressed his gratitude, saying, “I’m happy to be part of such a meaningful event again this year.” He emphasized that supporting and connecting the next generation is a key responsibility of the government, as it ensures the sustainability of Korean communities abroad and forms the foundation for Korea to play a greater role in the world.
He also highlighted the strategic importance of Brazil: “Brazil has a long history of Korean immigration and is home to many Korean businesses.” He encouraged the young audience by stating, “Each of you is a vital link between Korea and the world.” Additionally, he underlined the importance of bilingual skills and networks, noting a frequent shortage of talents fluent in both Korean and Portuguese in the field.
President of the Korean Association, Kim Beom-jin, shared a message of support: “No matter what path you choose, every journey is meaningful,” and hoped the seminar would help participants reflect on themselves and dream of broader possibilities.
