MCST (Minister Yoo In-chon) and SAIP under Indonesia's Ministry of Human Rights and Justice signed a business agreement in Seoul on September 10 to officially cooperate with Korea and Indonesia in resolving copyright crimes through international cooperation investigations.
MCST is expanding its international cooperation system in accordance with the "Measures to Eradicate Illegal Distribution of K-Contents" jointly announced by related ministries under the direction of President Yoon Suk Yeol last year. The signing of the business agreement will be a driving force to establish a tight international public offering cooperation network and root out the illegal distribution of "K-Content."
The Indonesian Intellectual Property Office is a leading law enforcement agency that oversees copyright, patents, trademarks, and industrial design. In October last year, the MCST Special Judicial Police, in collaboration with the international criminal police agency Interpol and Indonesia SAIP, cracked down on copyright crime organizations that have served illegal IPTVs in Indonesia since 2010 and broadcast K-content real-time (also provided video on demand).
Illegal distribution is also increasing as "K-Content" such as movies, dramas, and entertainment receives popularity and attention from people around the world. With the recent development of digital technology, the infringement method has become intelligent and crime tracking and crackdowns are becoming increasingly difficult, such as installing and operating servers overseas.
Accordingly, MCST signed a business agreement with Indonesia SAIP to investigate "K-Content" copyright infringement, providing an opportunity to take the scope of copyright crime investigation to the next level. According to this business agreement, MCST and Indonesia SAIP will promote cooperation in enforcement operations against ▴ copyright infringement, sharing information on ▴ copyright crimes and copyright crime investigations, and sharing policies on ▴ copyright protection systems and awareness-raising activities.
