OKA Commissioner Lee Sang-deok said on the 5th, "We will spare no effort and support to help future generations move toward a bright future while the Korean victims of the atomic bombing and their compatriots remaining on Japanese soil heal the pain of the past years."
"The Yoon Suk Yeol government will never forget the pain of Hiroshima," Lee said in a memorial service held in front of the memorial monument for Korean victims of the atomic bombing in Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park earlier in the day.
The government promises to the altar that it will strive to create a world where humanity's common prosperity and permanent peace are established as a global central country so that the tragedy of 79 years ago will not be repeated again.
The memorial service, held on August 5 every year since 1970, is a representative event to commemorate the victims of the bombing of Koreans in Japan.
This year's memorial service, which marks its 55th anniversary, was attended by Korean residents in Japan, including Commissioner Lee, Consul General of Hiroshima, Kim Yi-jung, head of the Korean People's Association in Japan, and Kim Ki-sung, head of the Hiroshima People's Association.
On the Japanese side, more than 200 people, including Tetsuo Saito, Japan's Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Akira Hirabayashi, chairman of the Komeito Party, Hiroshi Hiraguchi, chairman of the Hiroshima Prefectural Federation of the Liberal Democratic Party, and Eri Mikami, a member of the Constitutional Democratic Party, visited the monument.
