▲Jang Won-sam, chairman of KOICA (left), visited Kazakhstan on the afternoon of the 5th (local time) and met with Arken Aristanov, chairman of the Kazakh International Development Group, to renew a memorandum of understanding on development cooperation.
Jang Won-sam, chairman of KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency), visited Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan from the 5th to the 12th (local time) to discuss friendly cooperation measures with high-ranking government officials and inspect the KOICA Official Development Assistance (ODA) project site.
In June, the South Korean government decided to promote the "Korea-Central Asia K-Silk Road Cooperation Initiative" on the occasion of President Yoon Suk Yeol's trip to three Central Asian countries (Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan). ODA is one of the key tasks of this initiative, and Chairman Jang Won-sam's trip was made to discover key projects from the perspective of development cooperation and strengthen cooperative relations with each visiting country ahead of the "Korea-Central Asia Summit" scheduled to be held in Korea next year.
Chairman Jang Won-sam's trip to Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan is expected to serve as the foundation for taking the cooperative relationship with the Central Asian region connecting Asia and Europe to the next level and strengthening the Korean government's "Korea-Central Asia K-Silk Road Cooperation Initiative." KOICA plans to faithfully fulfill its necessary role to ensure that the K-Silk Road Initiative is implemented well in the future.
