Cambodia Expects Human Resources Development and Startup Ecosystem Revitalization

The National Startup and Child Care Center, the "mecca of digital startups" where Cambodian young people will develop their dreams of innovative start-ups, opened with the support of the Republic of Korea. Preliminary entrepreneurs in Cambodia can receive business space, new technology maps such as artificial intelligence (AI), and blockchain, as well as initial investment.

KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) announced on the 14th (local time) that it held the opening ceremony of the National Incubation Center of Cambodia (NICC) in the Royal Phnom Penh University in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, in the presence of Chairman Jang Won-sam, who officially visited Cambodia.

NICC is a new start-up support space built as part of KOICA's 'Cambodian Incubation System Construction Project' *, and is recognized as a 'national institution' by the Cambodian government. It is a four-story building with a size of about 2,300 square meters and has an office, conference room, prototype production center, and digital studio.

Through NICC, KOICA plans to systematically support business space support, initial investment (seed money) provision, management and digital technology guidance, and exchange of start-ups at Korea-Kam University so that Cambodian young people with fresh ideas in high value-added industries such as digital, science, and environment can start a stable business.

KOICA plans to establish a 'virtuous cycle structure' that helps produce young entrepreneurs in need at actual Cambodian industrial sites through close industry-academic links centered on NICC and allows such trained entrepreneurs to drive national development. Unlike other startup support organizations in Cambodia, the center is located on the campus of the Royal Phnom Penh University.
